Adela LLosa Collado receiving the Alan Dean Award for the Most Improved Photographer

Congratulations to Adela Llosa Collado who was announced tonight as the winner of this year's Alan Dean Award for the "Most Improved Photographer". The announcement was deferred from the AGM as Adela was unable to attend, and yet it seems the surprise was maintained as Adela looked genuinely shocked to be given the award. Congrats Adela!

As noted in a previous news item, club member Richard Connolly was recently awarded the ARPS distinction by the Royal Photographic Society.

Congratulations to club member Richard Connolly on his recent "Associate" distinction awarded by the Royal Photographic Society.

Richard has previously given a talk to the club regarding his LRPS award, which is the first level of distinction. He is also due to give a talk to the club on 5th December 2016 about his journey towards the ARPS.

Congratulations to club members David Mellor and Andy Gilbert, each having recent success in external competitions.

Andy Gilbert recently celebrated double success with 2 of his entries into the "Stockton Heath Festival – Photographic Competition" earlier in July. The subject was “Nightlife” and Andy took first prize (£30) for the "Judges Choice" with his image “Rockin’ at the Parr Hall” and another £30 first  prize – for the "Peoples Choice" (voted by the public), “Liverpool-Albert Dock”. Andy said he was delighted and surprised, especially with two wins and it also being the first time he has entered this annual competition.

Richard Connolly (LRPS) has 3 images on display in the the Royal Photographic Society exhibition at the Pyramid Centre, Warrington. The exhibition feature members of the RPS from the Northwest region and there are around 50 images on display. The exhibition is free to enter, and runs until 30th April 2016.
