    AGM:

This meeting is your chance to help shape the next 12 months at your club and have your say about what the club should do in the coming year. The club Photographer Of The Year will be awarded along with the Alan Dean trophy.

One of the purposes of the AGM is to elect a committee that provides the main structure and programme of events for you to enjoy.  If you would like to nominate yourself for a role in the committee, you should complete a nomination form and return it by handing it in to Chairmain Dave Edwardsons or by post or email (details are on the form) before the closing date for nominations.

March 2018
  • Monday 12 March 2018 - 19:30-21:30

    LCPU Portfolio:

The Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union send out a number of portfolios each year that tour the regions camera clubs. These portfolios gather together a collection of entries from the year's LCPU printed images competitions and give clubs the opportunity to review and examine a wide variety of photographs of a range of subjects.

The portfolios have always been well received, but last year, due to the mix up over the club meeting dates at the start of the year, the LCPU portfolio (which is with our club for a matter of a day or two) missed our club night, meaning that nobody got to see it last year.

On the evening we will have small groups reviewing a selection of photos in turn, choosing their favourites, seeing whether they agree with the judges scores etc. Usually and fun and informal night looking at some of the best images from the region last year.

  • Monday 26 March 2018 - 19:30-21:30

Guest Speaker - Mal Holmes :

We will be joined by Mal Holmes who is a member of South Liverpool Photographic Society, for what is sure to be a fascinating lecture on Infra-red Photography.

To see more of Mal's work, there are some intriguing images on his website

April 2018
  • Monday 09 April 2018 - 19:30-21:30

    Show Your Images:

Members are invited to submit up to 4 photographs each to show to the group. Shots from previous club sessions (location shoots, workshops, model nights etc) are encouraged (intended to show members that did not attend what they missed out on) but not a requirement!

We also encourage "before and after" shots (can be before and after for all 4, or just 1 or 2 of them if you wish) with the photographer giving a summary of what went into the post processing - intended to inspire others into taking a "good" photograph and making it "great" with a bit of post production.

Be prepared to talk about your submissions, why you took the shot, how you set it up, kit used, settings used, post processing etc.

Also, if you would like some constructive criticism, let us know when we put the image up and see if we can generate some conversation around the image.

To streamline the event on the night, please send your images to worknight@thewdcc.org.uk a week prior to the event. If you wish the images shown in a particular order, please number them. If you are unable to send them in advance, I can accept them on the night, but they may not be shown depending on how many were submitted by email in advance.

  • Monday 23 April 2018 - 19:30-21:30

    Club Competition 1 - "Open":

Our first club competition of the year and as ever, the initial competition is an open theme, i.e. Your photograph can be on any subject you wish, colour or black and white. Points scored count towards the Photographer Of The Year competition.

Please see the current competition rules for information on how to size and name your images, and we also have some general tips, and advice on mounting your images.

Please note that images must be handed to the competition secretary Ian Sprott at the meeting before the competition (9th April), and digial images must be submitted by email to competitions@thewdcc.org.uk before midnight on 27th March 2017.

    Member Talk - File Management:

So you have hard disks, CD's, USB drives all choc full of images. How do you organise them? What would you do if your drive failed, or your computer was stolen? Do you have backups? If something happened to you, would your family have access to your photos or would they be lost forever?

Join us for a talk from club member Lawry Simm on "File Management".
